95:5 Primid Saturated Polyester Resins for 180℃ Cured Powder Coatings
◎Introduction
NH-6582T is tribo chargerable type of NH6582, saturated carboxyl polyester resin designed for 95:5 Primid XL 552 powder coating to be cured at 180℃.
Models with a T indicate powder coatings made with this polyester resin that can be sprayed with a friction gun.
Methods of coating articles with powder coatings generally include electrostatic coating and fluidized bed coating. In the electrostatic coating method, the average particle size of the powder coating used is 30 μm or less, which usually tends to agglomerate the particles of the powder coating, resulting in reduced smoothness of the baked coating due to inclusion of binding particles . Furthermore, the fluidity of powder coatings in powder form is reduced, so that the coated object cannot be uniformly coated, resulting in a coating with low smoothness. On the other hand, coatings with an average particle size greater than 30 μm had a reduced tendency to stick, but after baking, resulted in the formation of large interparticle voids. If applied thinly (about 50 [mu]m or less), the resulting coating will be less smooth after baking.
By optimizing the polyester synthesis formula, NH-6582T can solve the above problems. The powder coating prepared by NH-6582T has no pinholes when applying thick films.
